The Blank stool concept is a conscious effort towards harnessing waste from the textile and fashion industries. Manufactured from a bio composite plastic injection moulding granule, with a blend of recycled pure cotton fibres. Research has shown that 95% of the 92 million tons of solid textiles waste produced each year could potentially be recycled. This concept is a speculative response to the staggering impacts these two industries are having on our planet. The Blank stool is durable, light weight, and stackable. Ribbing on the underneath of the stool reduces the material usage, while retaining strength throughout this design. This project was part of Benjamin’s final year graduation project.
